For many countries outside of the EU, having an international DPO is a necessity.

DPR first came into effect on May 25, 2018 as a mandatory data compliance standard for organizations operating across the EU. Since then, GDPR has become both a standard and a reference for all new data protection regulations globally.

Thanks to this adoption, the appointment of a Data Protection Officer (DPO) is now mandatory in many countries outside the European Union including the United Kingdom, Brazil, Singapore and Thailand (among others).

As a result, organizations that operate globally have two options. One, appoint a DPO in every country you collect data from, or two, work with an international DPO whom would be responsible for data compliance across multiple countries.
